I photographed Manfred Fitzgerald for the “10 Steps to Success” section of the British magazine Monocle. Mr. Fitzgerald is Global Head and Executive Vice President of Genesis Motor, South Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motors Group’s luxury brand. He is a former director of brand and design at Lamborghini.
In March, Monocle’s Hong Kong bureau chief and I met Mr. Fitzgerald in their flagship store in Gangnam. He was a handsome and gracious gentleman of cosmopolitan background. Unfortunately the Genesis team came a little underprepared and we ended up spending half a day tracking down the props for his 10 steps, including an American football. I got creative and ordered online a Korean copy of Helmut Schmidt’s autobiography from a bookstore and had it sent over to the shoot location.
In the end, the story came out in their October 2019 issue and the a 2-page spread is looking pretty good. It was a great pleasure to work with Mr. Manfred Fitzgerald and the Genesis team for this feature.
