I love books – especially photo books and art books. As a photographer and for the longest time, it’s been one of my aspirations someday to publish a photo book of my own with Steidl. I love Daelim Museum, too. A house-turned-museum, it’s a rare and cozy place with beautiful light, one of my favorites in Seoul.

All in all, this was a fantastic show. The art of book-making, photographed by Koto Bolofo, was breath-taking and made a great introduction to the show. The exhibit was overall well-coordinated, with different sections on typography, Robert Frank, Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel, etc. It provided a great insight into how great books like “The Americans” were put together.

“How to make a book with Steidl” runs till Sunday Oct, 6th, 2013. Daelim Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00PM, Tuesdays to Sunday. It is closed on Monday and on other Korean national holidays. If you’re a book lover in Seoul or visiting during the time and looking for something to do, don’t miss it. It’s close to Gyeongbokgung Palace, too. The admission fee is 5,000 won and you can get a free admission if you buy a book at the pop-up store. I’m eyeing on a number of books myself. Their pop-up store was like treasure hunt!

My advice is to go on weekdays if possible. Daelim Museum is pretty small and can get crowded quite easily and quickly, especially on weekends. I’m looking to go back on a weekday soon for the best viewing experience.
