I met many great people through the Seoulist Contents Workshop in February, and Ji Sun Chong was one of them. When she suggested that we do a collaboration for her yoga portfolio, I said YES, as I knew she was always positive and energetic and it would be a great portrait session.

I’m no yoga expert, but after our shoot I can tell Ji Sun is a solid yogini. She performed various postures for our portrait shoot and they didn’t look easy! I was constantly amazed at her athleticism and impressed with her upbeat character. In general, the shoot was done very fast and I had to improvise a lot, but we were both very satisfied with the results.
I combined natural light with artificial light to bring out her character and strength. Adding artificial light in shade worked out really well, and sometimes I threw in hard light to accentuate the shadow of her pose. The photo with the finger painting, in which Ji Sun is executing ardha chandrasana, half moon pose, is our favorite.
Ji Sun has her own Facebook page, Practice Yoga, and anyone who’s interested in authentic yoga sessions or looking for a yoga instructor in Seoul should definitely check it out. I might get a lesson or two from her for my own good!
